The Taizé brothers in Bangladesh lived in the town of Mymensingh for more than 30 years. In 2021, they moved to the village of Thanarbaid, which is located in a forested area about 50 kilometers from Mymensingh. There they settled on a large site that used to be a clinic. When they arrived, everything resembled a jungle. In the meantime, a beautiful garden with lots of trees and beds has been created. Vegetables and spices are grown. Fifteen high school students live and pray here together with them.
During their time in Mymensingh, the brothers began to set up many different social and pastoral projects. These are now run by locals under the direction of the brothers and it is hoped that they will be able to function independently in the future. The projects include supporting the elderly and disabled, working with street children, distributing scholarships to students, education for peace and more.
