Choto Tara (Little stars)

Unfortunately, a large part of society in Bangladesh massively marginalizes people with disabilities and their relatives. Mothers are often rejected by their husbands, sometimes by the entire family, as there is a widespread belief in society that disability is a punishment from God. This often leaves the mothers not only as single parent, but also drives them to financial ruin. Choto Tara (“Little Stars”) runs three day care centers that welcome children with predominantly mental disabilities and their mothers. In the day care center they receive the attention, activities, food and therapy they deserve.

The mothers are listened to, can exchange experiences, gather new strength and receive further support. The most important thing here is to spread joy among the children and mothers and to convey the message that children with disabilities are not just a burden, but carry God's blessing and joy in a very special way. Food parcels are also distributed regularly.

Choto Tara also conducts home visits, advises and supports families with children with disabilities who cannot come to the day centers, and equips them with the bare necessities.
