Mikrakbo (“Awakening”) is a pastoral project for the native Garo people, who make up 90% of the Christian population in the Mymensingh district. The project involves mainly college students, who visit people in prison and in hospitals to pray with them and their relatives. They also help in in the parish with various programs and pilgrimages. Another important project is a seminar for high school students in which they discuss important topics of life with them, such as love, friendship, responsibility and freedom. In addition, Mikrakbo arranges meetings in and outside Bangladesh to create meeting spaces for young Christians. With a share of 0.6%, Christians in Bangladesh live in the minority (90% Islam / 9% Hinduism / 0.4% other religions).
