The time before the association’s founding
The chronicle is available for anyone who would like to take a look at the history of our association. It's also a bit of a memento for ourselves, because a lot happened in 10 years of working with the Circle of Friends before we dared to become an association. Here we share with you a few special moments - unforgettable, wonderful, beautiful, touching (...) - from the last few years...
Exchange of skilled workers in Bangladesh
Eight German professionals meet eight professionals in Bangladesh. It all began with the exchange of experts from the Protestant Youth Ministry of Saxony to Mymensingh (Bangladesh) from 28.10. to 10.11.2012... We fall in love with Bangladesh and are sure: the journey will continue!
We have visitors! Four project partners from Bangladesh have received a visa and are travelling to Germany. Together, we organize the return exchange of skilled workers with project visits to Dresden and the area around Leipzig, exchange knowledge and experience and, to top it off, visit Berlin.
We take part in the BMW Award (a member of our circle of friends works for BMW) and receive an incredible €5,000 for the "Choto Tara" project. Some of us travel to Munich to receive the prize money. Foto%20C4
We have a stand at the Intercultural Days in Dresden and organize a "Bangla Evening" at the Evangelische Hochschule Dresden to raise awareness of Bangladesh among visitors. In October 2016, we are also at the start in Leipzig. Bild%20Ev%20Hochschule%20Dresden%202
Oh it smells good, oh it smells fine... We arrive at the church square in Leipzig with a swing grill and sell dhal. Of course, the handmade products from Ankur Handicrafts are not to be missed.
Our monthly meetings are enriching and fulfilling. We are looking for more structure and are setting up an e-mail address and inviting our friends in Bangladesh to a first Skype meeting to stay in touch.
Should we found an association? We are thinking about it for the first time and about a logo for our German-Bengali Circle of Friends. In the fall, we help organize the Intercultural Days in Großpösna and once again have a stand at the Advent market in Leipzig. We will again be selling steaming dhal over Sebastian's self-built barbecue.
On Language Day, a public holiday in Bangladesh, four of us set off for Mymensingh for the second time. On the first day, we accompany Holi to the prison, where she regularly visits the imprisoned Garos and provides pastoral care. We are invited and experience boundless hospitality. They cook and sizzle for us - Bengali cuisine is varied and delicious. During the project visits, we gain an insight into the current situation of the facilities and initiatives. We take part in a "peace class" at a school, play with the street children in the slum of Mymensingh and visit the
Back in Germany, we are now giving even more concrete thought to founding an association. In the fall, we help organize the Intercultural Days and the Wichtelmarkt in Großpösna. Sylvia is a guest in Wadersloh with her lecture "Built close to the water". Foto%20C13
The coronavirus pandemic poses major challenges for the projects in Bangladesh. We launch two special fundraising campaigns and are overwhelmed by the huge amount of support. Within a short space of time, we are entrusted with €3,350. This is used to finance food and hygiene products locally.
During the pandemic, we also work on a logo for our German-Bengali Circle of Friends.
For the second time, we took the opportunity to win prize money at the BMW Award and - unbelievably - won again! Once again, an immense sum of €2,152 goes to "Choto Tara".
Roland is organizing a charity run at his school in Leipzig under the motto "Running Cash for Bangladesh". In total, almost €11,000 is raised by the students of Wiprecht-Gymnasium. The money goes to the peace initiative "Shanti Mitra".
Our mission statement also begins to take shape...
We have a booth at the Mobility Weekend in Leipzig, Caro reads from her book about Bangladesh in Mannheim and in Halle (Westphalia) small sailing boats race every Advent weekend. During the Advent fundraising campaign, we collect a total of €812 for the prison chaplaincy.
In January, Parapar e.V. is registered as a non-profit association at the Leipzig District Court.
Since March 29, we have been officially a registered association.
Our annual meeting takes place in Leipzig from 28.10. to 30.10.2022. At this meeting, we work intensively on our statutes and celebrate our founding meeting. Since 30.10.2022 we are officially organized as an association. Long live the Parapar e.V.!
At the BRN, the most colorful summer festival in Dresden's Neustadt, we spontaneously set up a table and sell strawberry cakes for Bangladesh. With the proceeds we support "Choto Tara".
